What is Frank Gehry’s Zodiac Sign?

Frank Gehry, born February 28th, 1929, is an Aquarian. Aquarius is an air sign, and those under it have an analytical and observational attitude. They are often sought out for their independence, intelligence, and creativity. This perfectly describes Gehry, who has reached incredible heights within his design career.

Frank Gehry was born in Toronto, Ontario, to parents of Jewish heritage. When Gehry was about 17, he and his family moved to Los Angeles. The relocation prompted Gehry to enroll in the University of Southern California School of Architecture, where he studied urban planning. While he was in college, he spent his time repairing fishing boats for extra money, a hobby which shaped some of his future designs. Shortly after graduating, Gehry got a job at Pereira & Luckman, a firm specializing in corporate architecture.

Throughout his time at the firm, Gehry started experimenting with unusual designs that reflect the out-of-the-box thinking that would become his signature. In addition, he began designing furniture characterized by unexpected combinations of materials like metal, wood, and upholstery. These boundary-breaking designs helped sculpt the future of modern architecture.

His work caught the attention of the Corcoran Gallery in Washington D.C., and soon, he was designing museums and galleries for them elsewhere. Soon, Gehry was appointed the lead designer on the Disney Concert hall, one of Gehry’s most recognizable works. His imaginative and audacious design is reflective of an Aquarian personality, both innovative and cutting-edge.

The majority of his works are considered controversial, and this is another trait related to Aquarians. The most well-known of his works are the Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, which has been described as a “masterpiece of Coopery and Guggelberry Flying Carpet”. Gehry designed the Guggenheim Museum building to look like a giant fish, reflective of his background in working with boats as a teenager. This creative synergy between Gehry’s childhood hobbies and his later works is another characteristic of the Aquarius sign- their unorthodox attitude influences their works.

Gehry’s style is often considered modernist and deconstructivist, two inventions of thought that were pioneered in an age when all things were taken apart then put back together in a new way. Again, this is a trait of Aquarius- breaking away from the standard and creating something new and unexpected. Gehry is an example of an exemplary Aquarian- his works are revolutionary, creative, and downright astonishing. His work is an inspiration to others around the world to break the norm and create something that speaks for itself, a lesson that all Aquarians can learn from.
