These individuals are considered to be very sensitive, nurturing, and compassionate. They are typically quite emotionally attached to their close group of friends, family, and home.

Jean-Jacques Rousseau was a Swiss philosopher and author born in Geneva, Switzerland. He had a strained relationship with his father, which pushed him to rely heavily on his autobiography and writing to cope. He was inspired by Jean-Jacques Burlamaqui, an 18th century philosopher, and various authors like Montaigne, Milton, and Shakespeare. Rousseau was firmly against authoritative structures, which he expressed in his book entitled “The Discourse on Inequality” which focused on the justification of inequality between men and women.

Rousseau had an influence on a number of important figures, including the well-known visionary, Karl Marx. He also heavily influenced Enlightenment thinkers, the French Revolution and many other key philosophical and political movements of the time. Rousseau’s works were seen as a response to the emerging industrial world of the 18th century, as he tried to preserve the idea of the ‘natural man’ that seemed increasingly threatened with the rapid commercialization and changes in values of the up-and-coming world. Additionally, he wrote two treaties on education and music, “Emile”, and “The Social Contract” respectively. Highly acclaimed for his works, he was posthumously inducted into the Pantheon in 1794.
