What is the Astrological Sign of Mary I of England?

Mary I of England, also known as “Bloody Mary”, was born on February 18th, 1516 under the zodiac sign of Aquarius. Aquarius is one of the most unique and intellectual sign of the zodiac. It is an air sign and believed to encompass the qualities of a free thinker with a strong sense of justice and fairness. Although strong-willed, Aquarius can be extremely compassionate when it comes to helping those in need.

Mary, born to King Henry VIII of England and Catherine of Aragon, dwarf was the oldest daughter and second of their six children. Growing up, Mary was vastly overshadowed by her younger brother, Edward VI, the son of her father’s third wife, Anne Boleyn, who was to succeed to the England’s throne, leaving Mary passed over for the succession.

Mary was always very close to her Spanish mother’s Roman Catholic faith, even though she was brought up a Protestant. Even before Mary became the Queen of England in 1553, she was known for her favor of Catholicism and her fierce love for her mother and her Catholic faith. This strong feeling of devotion began to shape Mary’s life as she was growing up, and stirred her into determinedly restoring England to the Catholic Church.

In addition to being a devout Catholic, Mary was also a determined leader. A key moment in Mary’s life was the marriage to Philip of Spain, who was Catholic. Despite pressure from the people, Mary remained strong and held fast to her own beliefs. This was a prime example of the Aquarius sign, as Aquarius’ are known for their strong-will and determination to stay true to their beliefs in the face of opposition.

But Mary’s determination and perseverance paid off because it ultimately enabled her to establish England as the dominant Catholic power of Europe. However, her relationship with Philip resulted in little success and sometimes strained relations between Spain and England, although her gruelling efforts to keep her marriage alive never ceased. Mary was also known for persecuting Protestants in her reign, leading to her ominous name “Bloody Mary”, and this showed the Aquarius’s capacity to remain acutely steadfast to their beliefs, going to any lengths to make sure they remain true to them.

Mary never ascribed to the traditional gender roles of the 16th century and broke away from the standard model of a Queen, ruling England with a strong and tenacious spirit while no one could deny her capabilities as a ruler. This can be linked to Aquarius’ tendency to forgo tradition and think outside of the box in order to get the job done to the best of their ability.

Mary passed away in November 1558 at the age of 42, and the legacy she left in her wake is still relevant and tangible today. Her incredible strength of character, courage and perseverance serve as an example to many of the power of the Aquarius sign. Mary’s life story and her dedication to her belief system stands as proof that an Aquarian can go against popular opinion and still remain strong and successful while never backing down. Even today, Mary’s life serves as an inspiration to many, a testament to Aquarius’s unique personality traits.
