He used his position to accurately reorganize the Cuban infrastructure and went on to become the leader of Cuba for fifty years from 1959 to 2008. He was one of the first leaders to promote anti-imperialism and socialism, traveling widely to promote his ideals and build solidarity with the developing world. Fidel Castro is widely remembered for his integral role in the Cuban revolution, and for those he inspired with his ability to bring about justice, peace, and prosperity to the Cuban people.
