After the war, he returned to Oxford and began teaching language and literature, which lead to his professor appointment in 1925. That same year, he published his first work, The Hobbit, which became an instant success. This was followed by the Lord of the Rings series, which quickly developed a worldwide fan base. His work has been translated into over 50 languages and adapted for multiple movies and film adaptations, earning him international acclaim.
